The experience: This type of tasting starts with tasting the Tuscan IGT red and white wine, accompanied by tasting bruschetta with two different types of extra virgin olive oil, one from Volterra and the other Tuscan, bottled especially for us. The tasting then continues with rich crostini (smaller form of bruschetta), several tastings of typical cold cuts and fresh and seasoned Tuscan pecorino cheeses. Each course includes a different glass of Tuscan wine. The tasting ends with the tasting of Volterra cantucci (typical cookies) and Tuscan vin santo (dessert wine).
Fabio’s winery is a historic business on the hill of Volterra: the first opening dates back to 1968, when Fabio and Milena took over the business from the previous owner of a company called “La bottega del vino”. “It was not an easy choice,” Fabio and Milena remember, “but today we can say that we are proud that we made it!”.
The two young and new owners immediately started to delve into the wines and devoted themselves to studying wine guides on all the wines of Tuscany, Italy and beyond.
Over time, the passion has been passed on from generation to generation. Today, La Cantina di Fabio, with the help of his daughter and grandson, lives and works with the same passion as in 1968.
